No. Wealthsimple doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee (also called an FX fee) when you spend in a currency other than Canadian dollars. You'll still have to pay a currency conversion rate, which will be the Visa exchange rate for the day the transaction settles.

Yes, you can use the Visa Platinum Prepaid card anywhere Visa is accepted — online, in store, and abroad. You can add your virtual card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet, and there's no limit on the amount you can tap. One exception: Costco Canada only accepts Mastercard in its warehouses, so the card won't work at the till there.
