What’s new at Wealthsimple — Product updates, feature launches, and improvements

  • PaymentsNew feature

Send and request money from friends on web

You can now send money to other Wealthsimple clients, request money, and manage your contacts from your browser, not just the app. Your sent and received requests are all in one place too.

  • Business investingNew feature

Boost your business margin buying power with your other corporate accounts

You can now link up to five of your business non-registered accounts to your business margin account, so their eligible investments count toward your buying power. Set it up from your margin account's settings, in the app or on web.

  • Account transfersNew feature

Transfer only some of your investments from another institution

You can now move just part of an account to Wealthsimple yourself, in the app or on web. Pick specific holdings by number of shares, a cash amount, or both. Choosing individual holdings depends on your institution, and you can always transfer part of your cash instead.

  • Group plansNew feature

Transfer an account into your group plan

If you have a group RRSP, TFSA, FHSA, or non-registered account through your employer, you can now move money or investments into it yourself, from another institution or another Wealthsimple account. Start a transfer the same way you would for any other account.

  • Deposits & withdrawalsImprovement

Use deposits on hold the same afternoon they clear

When a bank deposit is on hold, the funds now become available around noon ET on the last day of the hold instead of at midnight. That means you can trade or pay bills with it that afternoon.

  • Registered accountsNew feature

Add or update beneficiaries on your registered accounts on web

You can now add, edit, or remove beneficiaries, contingent beneficiaries, and successors on your registered accounts on web, and sign the change digitally on the spot. It's available everywhere except Québec.

  • Registered accountsNew feature

Hold US dollars in your RRIF or LIF

You can now hold USD cash and US-listed investments in your self-directed RRIF, LIF, or spousal RRIF, so you can trade them without converting back and forth. You can also take withdrawals in USD, to a linked US-dollar bank account or another Wealthsimple account.

  • ChequingImprovement

Track your chequing balance over time on web

We rebuilt the chequing account page on web for personal, joint, business, and youth accounts, so it now opens with a graph of your balance over the past 1–6 months instead of an interest chart. Your account number, wire transfer details, and prepaid Mastercard® number are grouped in a single side panel, and overdraft protection is a toggle in the header that shows your limit when it's on — no more hunting for basic account details.

  • Business investingNew feature

Add margin to your business investing account yourself

If you're the sole director of your corporation, you can now upgrade your Business investing account to margin yourself, in the app or on web, and get buying power right away. Keep in mind the switch can't be undone, and you can have one business margin account per corporation.

  • Automated investingNew feature

Hold more than one direct index in your Automated Investing account

You can now combine several direct indexes in a single Automated Investing account and decide how much goes to each. You can also hold a stock on its own even if it's already part of one of your indexes. If you remove an index later, we only sell that index's share at the next rebalance.

  • ChequingNew feature

Request a bank draft reversal without contacting support

If you need to cancel a completed bank draft, you can now request it yourself instead of messaging our support team. Pick your reason (like wrong amount, wrong recipient, or no longer needed) and we'll email you a form to sign. Once you send it back we'll reverse the draft and confirm, usually within a few business days. It works on web and in the app, so make sure your app is up to date.

  • CryptoNew feature

Send tokens from your DEX wallet to an external address

You can now send supported tokens from your DEX trading wallet to an external wallet on the Ethereum network. Network fees are currently covered by Wealthsimple Web3 Inc. and can change at any time without notice. Transfers can't be cancelled once they're sent, so double-check the address before you confirm. Sending is available in the app.

  • CryptoNew feature

Deposit USDC over Solana or Base

You can now deposit USDC to your crypto account over the Solana or Base networks in addition to Ethereum, and ETH over Base. Pick the network when you get your receiving address and make sure it matches what you're sending from, since deposits on unsupported networks can be lost.

  • ChequingNew feature

Get set up with a checklist on your new chequing account

New personal chequing accounts now come with a short checklist in the app to help you get the most out of your account: add money, set up direct deposit, turn on Interac e-Transfer® auto-deposit, and add a bill payee. Do them in any order, or dismiss the checklist once you're done.

  • Group plansNew feature

Top up your group account outside of payroll

If your employer offers a group plan through Wealthsimple, you can now add your own money to your group account any time with a bank transfer or a transfer from another Wealthsimple account, on top of your payroll contributions. This isn't available for DPSPs.

  • Documents & statementsImprovement

    Get shareholder materials by email

Proxy votes, corporate action notices, and company reports for the investments you hold now arrive by email instead of in the mail. You can choose what you receive or switch back to paper in your notification settings, though changes can take a few weeks to kick in.

  • PaymentsImprovement

Send more with Interac e-Transfer® without asking

If you regularly send Interac e-Transfer® payments, we've raised your sending limit to the maximum you're eligible for, with no request needed. You can lower it any time in your settings if you'd prefer a smaller limit.

  • Account openingImprovement

Find the account you want faster on web

Adding an account on web now starts with what you want to do, organized into Spend & save, Invest, Borrow, and Business. Under Invest, you choose how you want to invest first and the account type second, so it's easier to compare your options.

  • SavingsLaunch

Open a Savings account for cash you want to keep close

The new Savings account is a non-registered account for money you want to grow without locking it away. By default your cash earns our WS Rate and you can move it whenever you need, or you can switch to Market Rate and hold one of five money market or high-interest savings ETFs instead. Opening one takes only your basic details, with no investing questionnaire.

  • Credit cardsNew feature

Tap to pay with your Garmin watch

You can now add your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite* credit card or prepaid business Visa card to Garmin Pay and pay from a supported Garmin device, no phone or wallet required. Set it up in the Garmin Connect app.

  • TradeNew feature

Let a family member trade on your behalf

You can now add one family member, like your spouse, a parent, or a sibling, as an authorized trader on your Trade account so they can place, change, and cancel trades for you. They can't move money in or out, and you'll still get notified when their trades fill. It's in the app for now, with web to come.

  • CryptoImprovement

Buy Solana without it counting toward your crypto purchase limit

If you live in a province with a crypto purchase limit, Solana (SOL) no longer counts toward it, joining Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the other crypto you can buy as much of as you like. Any SOL you bought in the past 12 months has been taken out of your total too, so you may have more room to buy other crypto.

  • Deposits & withdrawalsImprovement

Add up to $10,000 at a time with Interac e-Transfer®

You can now fund your Wealthsimple account with up to $10,000 per Interac e-Transfer®, up from $3,000. There's nothing to turn on, though your own bank's sending limit still applies.

  • Registered accountsNew feature

Withdraw from your RESP for school in the app

When your student is enrolled in post-secondary, you can now request an education withdrawal from an individual or family RESP right in the app instead of contacting us. Upload proof of enrolment the first time, choose whether you're withdrawing grants and growth or your own contributions, and send the money to your Wealthsimple chequing account or your bank. It's in the app for now, with web to come.

  • Business investingNew feature

Turn on options trading in your business account yourself

If you're approved for options in your personal account, you can now turn on the same options levels in your Business investing account on web, without filling out a form and waiting for us to enable it. Levels 3 and 4 need a business margin account.

  • Account transfersNew feature

Transfer an individual RESP you opened for someone else

You can now bring an individual RESP to Wealthsimple yourself, whether you opened it for yourself or for someone else, like a grandchild. The grants in the account come along with it, including the Québec Education Savings Incentive. These transfers can take a little longer than usual, since we wait on your other institution to send the paperwork.

  • Business investingNew feature

Open a managed investing account for your business on web

You can now open a managed investing account for your business directly on web, so you can invest your business assets into professionally-managed, risk-appropriate portfolios with only a few clicks. This was temporarily unavailable, and is now back for all of our business clients. Opening is web-only for now, so start on a laptop or computer.

  • Business bankingNew feature

Deposit cash into your business chequing account at Canada Post

You can now deposit cash into your business chequing account at a participating Canada Post location using a QR code from the app. If you hold more than one chequing account, you'll pick where the money goes before generating your code, and co-directors are notified as the deposit moves along.

  • Prediction marketsLaunch

Trade on the outcome of real-world events with Wealthsimple Predict

Wealthsimple Predict is a new standalone app where you can take a yes or no position on events in finance, economics, and climate. Each contract is priced between $0.01 USD and $0.99 USD and pays $1 USD if you're right, and you can sell before the event settles if you change your mind. Download it on iOS or Android to get started.

  • Documents & statementsNew feature

Download a realized gain and loss report on web

You can now generate a report of your realized gains and losses for any time period, for one account or all of them, broken down by security across stocks, options, and futures. It shows your proceeds and returns in both CAD and USD, along with the exchange rate used. It's a handy record for tracking performance, but it isn't a tax slip.

  • Account transfersNew feature

Upload a statement to fill in your transfer details

Not sure of your account number or type when you're transferring an account in? Upload a statement from your other institution and we'll fill in the account number, account type, and amount for you to check before you submit. It works for common account types, like TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, and non-registered accounts, on web for now. Statement upload works with select institutions and isn't available to all clients yet.

  • Managed investingNew feature

Change your risk level or switch portfolios on your own

Changing your risk level used to mean booking time with an advisor. If you're in a Classic, Summit, or Income portfolio, you can now update your risk profile or switch portfolios yourself in the app or on web. We've also simplified risk levels to Conservative, Balanced, Growth, and Aggressive so it's more clear what you're choosing between. You can always move to a lower risk level, and moving higher asks a few questions about your timeline, emergency fund, and debt so your portfolio stays suitable for you.

  • Account transfersImprovement

See what actually arrived when a transfer completes

When an account transfer from another institution finishes, the receipt now shows the actual settled value of what arrived instead of the original estimate, along with how many of your holdings have landed. USD holdings are converted to CAD at the rate used on settlement, so the number matches what's in your account.

  • OptionsImprovement

See calls and puts side by side in the options chain on web

You can now view the options chain on web as a split view with calls and puts next to each other, or a combined view with the strike price down the middle. You can also add, reorder, or reset columns like break-even, open interest, and volume, and your setup carries over to the advanced chain.

  • ChequingImprovement

Find branch services for your chequing account in one place

The chequing account in the app has a new look, with a row of branch services up top so you can order a bank draft, deposit a cheque, withdraw cash, mail a cheque, or order a chequebook without digging through menus. Your prepaid Mastercard® is front and centre too, and everything you already use works the same way.

  • Managed investingNew feature

Choose a halal or socially responsible portfolio when you open a managed investing account

Halal and socially responsible portfolios now sit alongside Classic, Summit, and Income when you open a managed investing account, in the app or on web. Pick the one that matches your values directly, the same way you'd choose any other portfolio.

  • Business investingNew feature

Open a margin account for your business in one step

If your corporation has a single director and doesn't have an investing account with us yet, you can now open a Business investing margin account directly, with no extra steps required. Corporate suitability questions and the margin agreement happen in the same flow, so there's no separate form to fill out or wait on.

  • Group plansImprovement

See where every employee stands in your group plan

Your employer dashboard now shows a clearer status for each employee, from Invited and In progress to Participating, Paused, or Opted out, plus flags on individual accounts like when ID verification is still needed. Participating now means actively contributing, so your participation rate reflects who's actually saving.
